Meet Jessalyn, Operations Manager
If Jessalyn could title the autobiography of her life, she’d name it “She Lived Every Day.” Whether she’s enjoying the outdoors with her family, watching her kids play baseball, flying to Nashville with friends, or helping clients through payroll issues, she always makes the most out of every moment.
Jessalyn explains, “I go more by the day by day and pick the good things out to focus on. My favorite quote is ‘let the joys and tragedies coexist. Life will still turn out more beautiful than tragic.”
Her optimistic attitude allows her to see the good in every situation, no matter how small. She continues, “There are so many things and people that inspire me. Every day, whether it’s a coworker or a friend, watching people going through tough situations and seeing their strength. Just people getting through the good and the bad. It’s the smaller stories in life that inspire me.”
And it’s this appreciation for the smaller stories in life that brought Jessalyn to ConnectPay. As an Operations Manager, Jessalyn spends every day guiding small business owners as they work to build their own stories.
“Our clients are so inspiring,” Jessalyn conveys. “So many of our clients thought their businesses were going to close this past year, but they made it through COVID. What they did to keep their people and their businesses going is amazing.”
For Jessalyn, her favorite part of the day is making sure every client is taken care of. She goes on, “I think success for me is just being able to make their lives easier. When we can all go home to enjoy our evenings because, at the end of the day, everyone is happy – that’s what it’s all about. I like to make sure that people have the least amount of stress that they can.”
She adds, “I love that ConnectPay is still a service company and that we provide the kind of service that these clients should receive.”
Jessalyn believes that the environment cultivated at ConnectPay allows her to build stronger client relationships. “My favorite part of my job is the people that I work with. Not just my team, but I think everyone at ConnectPay,” Jessalyn maintains. “I’m amazed all the time how much each employee cares about what they do here. We all work really hard and we all share a common goal: to make this a successful business and to make our clients happy.”
However, it’s more than just Jessalyn’s positive attitude and team spirit that makes her great at her job - she also possesses the expertise needed to navigate clients through complex compliance issues. In fact, with more than fifteen years of experience in the industry, Jessalyn’s no stranger to the intricacies of the payroll world. Throughout her career, she’s had a hand in a little bit of everything, from onboarding to client services and management roles. Yet, despite her wealth of knowledge, she loves to learn new things and believes every day offers new opportunities for growth.
“The biggest lesson I’ve learned is how to be comfortable being uncomfortable,” Jessalyn admits. “You need to be okay not being a subject matter expert on something right off the bat. There’s always room to grow, whether you’re asking a silly question when you’re learning something new or reaching out to someone when you really don’t understand an issue. You have to get yourself comfortable learning something brand new and knowing that you’re really going to fail a few times before you get it down.”
Jessalyn carries these life lessons home with her as well, teaching them to her children, Carleigh and Chace. “I’m most proud of where I’m at in life with my kids and my family,” Jessalyn shares. “We’re all happy and content in life. I’m raising good little people who are kind to people. That’s all you can ask for!”
